Hackerspaces – The Beginning (the book)

This book documents where the hackerspace movement was in December of 2008. In that way it’s a bit of a time capsule. It’s not an exhaustive book, but the authors hope there are enough stories in here to show that all your excuses for not starting up a hackerspace are invalid. Each group faced down their own dragons to bring their hackerspace into existence including  floods, rats, and drama. If they can do it, so can you.

After these years, the book is finally free in the world as a pdf. Download it, read it, and share it. The authors are open to the idea of making it into a real physical book and if you’re interested in making that happen, let them know.

BeScala – 2nd Meet-Up

The BeScala – Belgium SCALA Enthusiasts – group (already present here), will have their second meet-up on September 13th, 19:00 at the N-SIDE office (Rue Granbonpré, 11, Louvain-la-Neuve, www.n-side.eu).

There is a limited set of places available (maximum 25 people), so please make sure to subscribe if you want to join. If for any reason you could not attend, please cancel your registration so they can invite people from the waiting list.

For this time, the group would like to organize Lightning talks. You are invited to speak about your SCALA passion and present your experiences or projects. The talks will be 5 minutes in length each.

We would also like to organize a discussion panel about the SCALA adoption in Belgium. If you have ideas, plans/strategies or experience about introducing SCALA in your company, the group is very interested to hear your story. ;-)

Finally yet importantly, the BeScala group thanks the N-SIDE management for supporting the initiative.
