Next Session – 27.10.2011 – Eclipse Deep Dive

We would like to invite you to our next event on Thu, October 27 2011, 19:00 to 21:30 at KUL Leuven (see below). As usual, the session is in English and the entry is free.

This is the second event in cooperation with the BeJUG. It is planned since last year and was originally supposed to be the first “real” conjoint JUG session.

The event location is in Leuven, so it would be nice to organise some car sharing if possible. Please send us a mail in case you are looking for a place or if you have free seats to offer. We will play Tetris then.

Please note that this will be the last (regular) event for this season that will be organised outside of Brussels.

What’s the session about?

This time we will have a high-level Eclipse team as guest, provided and directly coming from the Eclipse Foundation. Ralph Mueller, Eclipse Ecosystem Europe Director, joins us together with two colleagues, Wayne Beaton and Tom Schindl, to allow us a deep dive into the Eclipse Foundation eco system.

Of course, this is not the time to speak about the Eclipse IDE – Having experts at our disposal, we have more challenging and sophisticated topics on the list:
UPDATED TOPICS:

  • Ralph Mueller – Welcome
  • Wayne Beaton – Getting Involved with Eclipse
  • Wayne Beaton – Orion: Tools for the web, on the web
  • Tom Schindl – e4
  • Sven Efftinge – Domain-Specific Languages with Eclipse Xtext
  • B. Muskalla – Pimp your productivity with Git, Gerrit, Hudson and Mylyn

The registration to this promising session is yet open and we recommend too not waiting to long with reserving. Places are limited and we have two JUG populations to feed :)

Hope to see you there!

The Brussels JUG is sponsored by ISABEL SA. The travel and accommodation costs are sponsored by the Eclipse Foundation! This event is organised in cooperation with the BeJUG.

Next Session – Friday, May 27 2011- Agile Application Lifecycle Management

We would like to invite your to the next Brussels JUG session, which is this time all about “Lean and Agile”. The evening will take place on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 18:30 to 21:30, at the HU Brussels.

Please note that this day is a Friday and we start at 18:30 and not at 19:00 like before. The centre closes at 21:30, so we have enough time to enjoy a drink together after the conference.

The session is initiated by a short presentation about “The Lean Start- up” by Leo Exter. Many of us dream of creating our own start-up company and Leo will give us some expert tips to avoid the classic pitfalls.

For the main track, we proudly present the Java Champion, author and Cologne JUG leader Michael Huettermann. He will speak about Agile Application Lifecycle Management – Continuous delivery with agile strategies and lightweight tools.

This session illustrates recipes for Java developers, who want to integrate flexible agile practices and lightweight tooling along software development phases. We will discuss Task-Based Development for aligning activities to tasks resulting in traceable artifacts, (Advanced) Continuous Integration, in which we frequently and systematically integrate, build, and test an application as well as Agile approaches to release, configuration, deployment and requirements management. Many of the examples are Java-based, but the Agile ALM principles apply to all development platforms and examples show how you can bridge different languages and systems.

And, well, Michael will stay in Brussels over the weekend. On Saturday, we organise a Brussels city tour for our guests and you are invited to join us and to take the chance to discuss more deeply with Michael and all other Juggies – and maybe you’ll see some nice corners of the city that you didn’t knew so far. If you are interested in our “Java ‘n’ Culture Tour“, please let us a message or speak with us during the session to get the “synchronisation data”. If you like to join us during the day, just call the Brussels JUG phone number in order to get our current location :-)
